Sure, a lot of us groan just at the very thought of running, but, once you get started, you may really start to find it enjoyable, and wonder why you didn’t start doing it a long time ago.

There are numerous health benefits to running, from gaining muscle tone and strength to increased flexibility and greater lung capacity. If you are looking to lose weight, running is an ideal way. You will burn plenty of calories, and tone your muscles until you are looking sleek and lean. In fact, you can burn as many as 500 calories (sometimes even more, depending on how hard you run) for every hour you run, making running even better for weight loss than walking,

yoga, and even aerobics. In addition to losing weight and getting in great shape, running can even help to lower your blood pressure, and keep it regulated.

Running is a Great Time for Contemplation

For many of us who run, we kind of get lost in our own little world. Running is a great time to think about everything that is going on in your life and try to figure things out, or, it is also a great time to just clear your mind and concentrate on the road ahead of you, and the scenery that surrounds you. Running can be as beneficial to your psychological health as it can for your physical health.

If you have decided that you want to take up running, you need to make sure that you have the right clothing. You can wear pretty much anything you like, as long as it is non-constricting and comfortable. The most important thing you will be wearing is your shoes, and you need to have the right shoes to avoid injuries, such as muscle strains and sprains. Make sure you get a good pair of runners. If you plan on running off-road, you may want to have spiked shoes for better traction.

Running is a popular sport that can be both fun and relaxing, and is a wonderful way to get in great overall shape. You will tone your muscles, and improve your cardiovascular system.
